The Thai Music Circle in the United Kingdom (TMC) was formed in June 1991 under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand. She graciously donated a complete set of Thai musical instruments to the Royal Thai Embassy in the UK for the circles's use, and has provided sponsorship for teachers to travel to the UK for the purpose of promoting and performing Thai classical music. Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn is a very talented musician who when she visits the UK and Europe regularly plays music with the TMC.

The TMC is the only fully-fledged Thai traditional music ensemble in Europe. The Circle meets up every Saturday for lessons and rehearsals. Annually, it organises a series of workshops in conjunction with the Asian Music Circuit, for primary school children in London. The TMC performs frequently at a number of wide ranging events, such as the National Day at the Thai Embassy, and the Thai New Year festival known as Songkran.

The TMC considers itself to be an international group participating in music events, not only in the UK, but also in Europe. It is the Circle's aim to deepen the appreciation of Thai classical music amongst both the Thai community and also Western audiences. The TMC welcomes all who appreciate the beauty of Thai music.
